The Stable Church

loving God, serving others, transforming our world

Who Are We?

The Stable is a Christian church in Salisbury Road, High Barnet, which started in 1990. We are a member of the Evangelical Alliance (www.eauk.org).

 A Short History

A church has been meeting in our building for over 100 years, but was temporarily closed in 1989.  At that time the leaders of Salisbury Chapel (as it was then known) invited Hugo and Sharon Anson, who had previously been worshipping at St. Barnabas in Woodside Park, to bring a small team and start something fresh.  ‘The Stable’ held its first service on Sunday 18th March 1990.

Why ‘The Stable’?

The reason for the name, ‘the Stable’, is that a stable was the first place Jesus was ‘at home’ during His time on earth, and we want Him to feel at home with us.

Our Aim

To base all we do on the Bible and what it teaches about how to follow Jesus Christ.  Our services are relaxed and designed to help people rediscover the love of the living God, or to find Him for the first time.  To find out more read our Mission Statement by clicking here.
